As a priest, Canon Demant preached frequently, belonging to a school that prepared sermons as literary pieces, carefully thought out and written down.
He intended to publish a volume of his sermons, and prepared them for publication. It was to be called Not One World, but Two: A Miscellany of Preachments. He arranged it into six sections - Explorations, Doctrinal, General, Social, Commemorations, and Obituaries. It is an enormous joy to welcome the final publication of this set of sermons as a tribute to Vigo Auguste Demant. I hope that their publication by Fr Sławomir Nowosad and his forthcoming monograph on Demant will rescue his name and his thought from unjust neglect. It will be discovered that the problems in society he sought to analyse are still with us, that his reflections on them as powerful as ever.
